Phineas Taylor Barnum
Phineas Taylor Barnum, born July 5, 1810, was an American showman who pioneered many of the tenants of the sideshow, circus and the very art of advertising. He is celebrated today for the elaborate hoaxes and humbugs he concocted, The American Museum, and for being a founding partner of the Barnum & Bailey Circus. He died April 7, 1891, in Bridgeport, CT
