P.T. Barnum Is Dead.

A rough engraving of Barnum accompanies the title which refers to the fact that Barnum had died just 6 days before-- on April 7, 1891-- this promo card was mailed on April 13, 1891. We'd probably call this a crass way to advertise Barnum's book "Dollars and Sense, or How To Get On The Whole Secret In a Nutshell," but Barnum had announced that he expected to die soon-- even going so far as to ask that his obituary be published prior to his death so that he could read what they wrote about him.
