Born Fedor Jeftichew in St. Petersburg, Russia in 1868, "Jo Jo" inherited the genetic condition hypertrichosis from his father Adrian (or Andrian). They performed together in various French circuses until Adrian died and Fedor came to America with a contract from P.T. Barnum in 1884.
Fedor spoke Russian, German, and English, and toured Europe and the United States, until he died of pneumonia in Greece on January 31, 1904.
