Fred Walters referred to himself on some official records as a Circus Artiste, who started working in "Freak Shows". Eventually he became internationally recognized, from touring the USA in 1896 and Europe in 1903-5, with Buffalo Bill's huge Wild West show, under the auspices of Barnum and Bailey, circus grand masters.
