Beautiful woman and beautiful image. Considered by many to be THE classic early-20th Century images of a tattooed person. Artoria Gibbons wears an egret feather headdress, displaying her husband C.W. (Red) Gibbons' handiwork. Signed in the negative "Empire, LA." (which was owned by Guy Grimshaw and sister, Lelia Grimshaw.) On verso: hollow "POSTCARD" back….. Artoria's tattoos were primarily reproductions of paintings by Raphael and Michelangelo: "My husband done everyone of them. They're all masterpieces.
