Zip "The Monkey Boy"

Fantastic, rare and significant view of amateurish sideshow banner hanging on side of house showing huge, human-like ape being captured by three men. African-American man stands beside banner, smiling. Banner is signed "F. Leon Harris." Highly unlikely that this banner actually advertises the original Zip, Barnum's "What-Is-It," as that act commanded much more sophisticated signage and locations. Nonetheless, it illustrates the ubiquitousness and power of the "Zip" name in the American sideshow business. On verso: Hollow "POSTCARD" back.
