Snapshot. From 1939-1940-- This expo is where the previous photos were taken of the Anna-John Budd sideshow troupe..... The New Zealand Centennial Exhibition which ran in Wellington from November 1939-May 1940. The event was the centrepeice of the 1940 centennial commemorations. The exhibition attracted 2,641,043 people with a daily average attendance of 17,149. The exhibition covered 55 acres (22.2 hectares) of land just to the west of Wellington's airport. After the exhibition closed the buildings were used as extra accommodation by the Air Force.
