Unidentified Midget With Friend In Cased Tintype

Cased 1/4-Plate Tintype in mother-of-pearl and leather case. Performer stands sullen with hands on hips, dressed in trolley or train conductor's uniform, with engineer's cap and huge watch chain. He has a hint of hand-colored pink on his cheeks. Standing next to him is a dubious-looking character with droopy handlebar mustache, holding cigar, and holding onto a chair which he balances on two legs. Despite being cased as earlier tintypes were, the brown metal back of this plate is an indication that it is a later, i.e. late-19th or early-20th century image.
