Snake Zoma Birch Card

A souvenir birch postcard, written by sideshow performer, Zoma, a snake enchantress, to a friend: "miss Mary Coy-DuChaneaux. When you look at this will you some times think of Snake Zoma...Barnum & Bailey, 1908"...........As a novelty, postcards made of birch bark were not as popular as cards made of leather, but Paper Birch (Betula papyrifera) was used starting in about 1900 to make homemade postcards. Other woods used to make postcards were redwood, orange wood, pine, balsa, and yucca.
