"The Equilibrist" featured in this tradecard for the famed Chicago dime museum-- Kohl & Middleton's West Side Museum-- is a schoolboy who balances on his nose a highchair with a shrieking baby. "Kohl & Middleton's West Side Museum School Card, Copyright 1881." A "School Card" was distributed mainly to children as a way to target and lure the youngest members of the potential audience. On verso: Advertises Mikado on Next March 6th, "The High Mikado will distribute Japanese Candy to all the children.
