Anticipating Barnum's "kidnapping" (i.e. Purchase) of Jumbo from England, this trade card reads "AMERICA AHEAD" as a very unhappy Jumbo with red-rimmed eyes and mouth open in what could only be an elephant scream, is dragged down a London street by two other elephants and a team of horses. Crowds of people watch from the told of buildings and streets-- "Jumbo Must Go Because Drawn By Willamantic Thread" Printed by "FORBES CO., BOSTON."
