Joe Hatfield "The Pain-Proof Man"

Real Photo Postcard. Hatfield's portrait on this card is poignant and startling, as his seems to reveal an inner pain, as a long skewer and hatpin go through opposite cheeks and emerge through the mouth. Hatfield also sports four large button sewed onto hius skin-- one at his throat and the other three on his chest. Another hatpin goes through each upper arm.
