Snapshot. Sorrowful image of Asian nurse or midwife holding a very large stillborn anencephalous female child with a set of forceps beside. Possibly of Cambodia or Laos origin, as the image came to this collection from France. This photo was probably reprinted in small quantities and sold to medical professionals as a kind of performative souvenir of the business of medicine. Not unlike the souvenir images, blown-up and printed on large boards by showman to advertise exhibits of Life Shows.
