Real Photo Postcard
Real photo postcards, abbreviated RPPC, are the king of photographic formats from about 1905 through to the 1960s. The reason for this is that most of the early cards in this genre are relatively rare, were profesioinaly and artfully produced. Small quantities were made for the most part, chronicling local events, or for very specialized uses. One of the specialized uses of RPPCs was the making of high-quality cards for perfomers to sell at their shows. In addition, small photographic operators produced these cards to chronicle local events, including fairs and itinerant performers passing through. (to be continued)
