Zola was born around 1894, and was married to "Alligator-Skinned Man" John Williams. Zola was a native of Texas, and started in show business in 1930.

In 1952 she was with the Clyde Beatty Circus where she was billed as "The World's Fattest Bearded Lady." She claimed to have been three times married and three times widowed.
