Sophie Schultz appeared in dime museums as a child starting in about 1883.

Her earliest photos show her as a very diminutive and round child of about 7-8 years old, while being billed as 17 years old, height 30 inches, and weight 125 pounds. She was initially billed as The German Midget, and then The Midget Fat Girl, and later as The Bearded Baby or Bearded Child.

Later we find portraits of Sophie with a mustache and goatee, and she is billed as "Three In One"-- the Bearded Midget Fat Girl.
