Sandra Dee Reed was born in 1945, in the Adirondacks, in upstate New York, and grew up in Hermon, NY. She entered the business in 1969, working for Whitey Sutton (and Slim Kelly) who had a sideshow with Strates that year. Her sister, Doreen, also an Albino, entered the business shortly thereafter, lecturing on them both, and also worked the blade box. Sandy learned sword-swallowing for her second season in the business from Ricky Richiardi in Gibsonton.
Reed is perhaps most famous for her appearance in the iconic Diane Arbus photo, "Lady Sword-Swallower."
