Born in Brooksville, Kentucky, May 21, 1858, Mary Ann Devere, who used the stage name Jane, played with Sells Brothers, Campbell Brothers, and in 1908 with Yankee Robinson Show. Her husband Bill was often posed with her, displaying her refined Victorian domesticity. She suffered a heart attack, and died June 19, 1912 in Oelwein, Iowa while traveling with the Patterson Shows, and is buried in that town at Woodlawn Cemetery.

According to Elizabeth Anderson she was of Jewish and French heritage. She married Captain J.W. (Bill) Devere in 1883.
