Harry L. Blitz was the son of the famed magician, ventriloquist, juggler, bird trainer and author (of the classic "Fifty Years in the Magic Circle") Signor Blitz.

Taking the name "Ki KI" to pursue a career as a spieler and wildman, Blitz claimed he first put on the make-up at the instigation of P.T. Barnum himself.
