Maximo & Bartola

Very rare Belgian 1860’s CDV of the pinheads exhibited as “The Aztec Children,” Maximo and Bartola. The portrait depicts the brother and sister with Bartola wearing a leopard fur and velvet dress and both sport hairdos that accentuate their microcephaly. The mount carries the mark of the Brussels photographer Cesar Mitkiewicz.
