E.M. Caldwell, Banner Painter

Earle Henri Caldwell was a well-known, but now nearly forgotten Los Angeles based sideshow banner and show painter. E.H. Caldwell was born in Rock Island, Illinois on July 2, 1881. He moved to Longbeach, California in 1920, and eventually settled in Los Angeles. He died there on Sept. 27, 1963. In addition to sideshow banners his fine art work included landscapes and still lifes. See upcoming full article on Caldwell and his career in Volume 10 of “James Taylor’s Shocked & Amazed”
