Store Shows
Store Shows were itinerant dime museums and sideshows which had their greatest heyday in the 1920s and 1930s.
The practice of showmen renting vacant storefronts in medium to large towns in the winter months persisted through the late-1940s, though the big operations that employed 10-15 performers had virtually ceased by 1950.
Some of the most successful carnival sideshow managers and owners ran successful store shows in the winter months.
