At 739 pounds, Lafayette, Indiana native “Happy Jack” Eckert was the largest Elk, Moose and Woodman on record and held the world record for the largest belly by circumference. He was also among the longest-lived circus fat men in history when he was killed in a car accident in Mobile, Alabama, on March 11, 1937. He was 63 years old.
