Linen Postcard

Linen postcards were printed in the United States from about 1935 until the middle-1950s. Contrary to their name, linen postcards were not made out of linen, but they did have a high rag content, which became an embossed paper stock, roughened in a process meant to maximize the brightness of the colored ink. The embossed lines suggested canvas, prompting the name.
