Unlike the elaborate and colorfully printed letterheads produced in the late-19th and early-20th Century by performers, promoters and venues, the lowly business card often fell into the mode of the simple “calling card” or simply an embodiment of its name, i.e. all business. Nonetheless, there were exceptions, and even the less showy version can reveal much about show business from an earlier time and place.
