Micrographics and Micrography is the practice of creating drawings or writing using lines of infinitesimal text, so tiny that they are often barely legible to the naked eye and require a magnifying glass to be read. Ricky Jay’s exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum “Wordplay: Matthias Buchinger’s Drawings from the Collection of Ricky Jay,” in 2016 highlighted the work of Buchinger, an 18th-century German artist who specialized in micrography, among other skills. Robert Ripley also featured several micrographic artists in his various Odditoriums.
