Little is known about Alice Doherty, except that she was originally billed as "The Minnesota Woolly Baby," and was— according to one source— born March 14, 1887. Alice was first exhibited as a baby, and continued to appear into the early 1900's, mainly in Midwestern fairs. A remarkable series of photos of Alice’s showfronts through the years indicate that she may have been exhibited only by her family, and never for larger shows. Alice represents a remarkable example of the very rare genetic mutation known as Hypertrichosis.
