Professor K.F. Fitz Showcard Writer from Admiral Dot's Autograph Book

Not much is known about the showcard writer Professor K.F. Fritz who signed Admiral Dot's autograph book (see below). Fritz was a professional "fancy writer" or carnival calligrapher, who also had a less than honorable reputation: "Fitzgerald, alias Wilson, Wright, Randolph, &c. the notorious scoundrel, of whom the Coast Review has had so much to say has again turned up at his old tricks. This time in San Jose, not as an Ins. agent, but sign painter and general patent medicine vendor.
