Brighton Beach Hotel Tintype

Three men photographed in this souvenir sixth-plate tintype stand in front of a painted backdrop which features the clear and distinctive facade of Coney Island's Brighton Beach Hotel. The man standing wears a huge mustache, a boater hat and a scowl. The huge Hotel Brighton (or Brighton Beach Hotel), which faced the beach at what is now the foot of Coney Island Avenue, opened on July 2, 1878.
